Payment links for high-risk businesses
A practical explanation of one-time payment requests, provider-hosted checkout, and wallet settlement.
Paytero lets you create a single-use link with an amount, customer email, payment route, and settlement wallet. The customer sees a Paytero request before continuing to the available payment operator. Acceptance depends on that operator’s rules.
What a payment link does
A payment link replaces a manual invoice handoff with a shareable checkout URL. You can send it in an email or message. Paytero provides both a full URL and a short URL for the same request.
What customers see
The checkout shows the payment title, requested amount, total, and any customer-paid fee before the customer chooses an eligible operator. Payment details are entered with the selected operator.
Where funds go
The primary flow uses a self-custodial EVM wallet on Polygon for USDC settlement. Use a wallet you control and verify the network and asset shown by the payment route.
Before you send a link
- Describe the real product or service. Use a title your customer will recognize.
- Check operator eligibility. Location, product type, amount, currency, and customer checks can limit available routes.
- Use the correct wallet. Enter a self-custodial Polygon-compatible
0xaddress; avoid shared exchange deposit addresses. - Review the total. The customer-paid option adds 3% to the request. If you cover the fee, the modeled merchant rate is 4%. Operator and network costs may also apply.
- Keep your records. Share the link with the intended customer and use its status to confirm completion.
What “high-risk” means here
Some lawful businesses are classified as higher risk by payment operators because of their industry, transaction pattern, location, or dispute history. A payment link does not override those rules. Operators may require identity checks or reject a product or transaction. Paytero cannot promise approval, zero holds, or unrestricted card acceptance.
Common questions
Do I need an account to create a link? No Paytero login is required for Payment Links. Virtual Cards have a separate account.
Can the same link be paid twice? A Paytero request is designed as a one-time payment. Once confirmed as paid, its checkout no longer offers payment options.
